Dive deep into the history of the Earth’s most terrible catastrophe and take a trip to the other side of the TV screen in this 5-days tour to Ukraine and Lithuania. As more than ⅔ of HBO miniseries were filmed in Lithuania, you’ll start your impressive tour from Ignalina nuclear power station and disturbing sights in Vilnius. To get the full experience you’ll travel to Ukraine: to the heart of Chernobyl and ghost-city Prypiat where the time stood still from 1986.

DAY 1 VILNIUS Morning arrival and day tour in Vilnius ( 6 – 8 h.) . You will visit Fabijoniskes district, where Prypiat scenes were filmed, Museum of Occupations and Freedom fights, its authentic cells and torture chambers, which were used in the shooting. Upon availability, Vilniaus Gediminas Technical university hall, where  trial process was filmed, Former cultural and sports centre of the Ministry of the Interior (Pripyat hotel restaurant). Overnight in Vilnius. 


DAY 2 VILNIUS - IGNALINA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT - VILNIUS Day tour to Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant ( 160 km from Vilnius).  The closed Visaginas Nuclear Power Plant was one of the reasons to choose Lithuania for the filming of the series.  It is an unfinished clone of Chernobyl NPP and once was the biggest in the world. Dressed in special nuclear plant clothing, you will have unique opportunity to visit restricted areas, where the series were shot: control room and reactor. Learn about it‘s history, operation principles and dismantling process. Meet locals and discuss living in a reactor town built in a remote area of Soviet Lithuania. Overnight in Vilnius. 


DAY 3 VILNIUS - KIEV Early morning flight to Kyiv. Special day tour around the city in old-fashioned Soviet car (feel yourself as Soviet functionary ).  Immerse in the atmosphere of times after the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant – try new tourist route «Locations of filming of the mini-series «Chernobyl» in Kyiv». During the tour guide will tell and show you what happened 33 years ago and how Kyiv survived such a terrible accident. You will also receive red wine in an old-fashioned USSR glasses (wine was recommended to drink by doctors to avoid a radiation contamination). Overnight in Kyiv.     


DAY 4 KIEV - CHERNOBYL ZONE  - KIEV Full-day tour to Chernobyl Zone. Todal you’ll have a chance to see everything that amazes and scares in the series  yourself. You’ll see the fourth power unit and stay where the first liquidators of the Chernobyl catastrophe stood. Walk through the streets of the ghost town of Pripyat, where 50,000 people had lived until 1986. You’ll also visit the fire department from which the first firefighters left for the scene; the medical unit of the city of Pripyat, which received the first victims and the legendary bridge of Pripyat town, from which, according to the series, citizens of Pripyat watched the fire at the station. Overnight in Kyiv. 

DAY 5 KIEV Departure day.  Free time in Kyiv - don’t forget to buy some souvenirs. Detailed itinerary will depend on you flight. Private transfer.
