The Aukštaitija National Park is famous for splendid clean interconnected lakes, ethnographic villages, expressive land surface forms, abundance of forests, and harmony of nature. 126 lakes, hilly surface. The most impressive is the Šiliniškės crest, which, together with the mounds of Ginučiai and Papiliakalnė and the Ladakalnis Hill, is one of the most beautiful observation stations in Lithuania

 

Day 1 Arrival to Vilnius. Private transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Free time to explore Vilnius. Overnight.

 

Optional:

Day 2 VILNIUS – GEOGRAPHICAL CENTER OF EUROPE – PALUSE (by car)

 

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure to Aukstaitija National Park with en route stop at the geographical center of Europe. In 1989 French scientists has measured that the geographical center of Europe is located in Lithuania, 26 km away from capital Vilnius. Here you can see the statue marking Lithuania’s entry to European Union. Continue to the center of Aukstaitija National park – Paluse. Accommodation in a homestead.

 

Paluse. The church of Palūšė, built in 1750, is considered to be the oldest surviving wooden church in Lithuania. The church is constructed of wood and was built without using nails, saws, or axes. Here you can also visit exposition of Stone Age settlement.

 

3 options for walking tours (departure point – Paluse, return point – Paluse):

• 3,5 km Botanic Path. Learn about meadow, swamp and other local plants as well as mushrooms, mosses.

• 10 km route, visiting wooden sculpture park, Gaveikenai watermill & Fishing museum.

Optional: Tree cake (sakotis) making workshop in Strigailiskis village. Price: 85 EUR/ person.

• 12 km route, visiting surrounding lakes and mounds.

 

Return to Paluse for overnight.

 

Day 3 PALUSE – GINUCIAI (20 km, hiking)

 

Breakfast at the homestead.  Morning departure from Paluse to Ginuciai. Aukstaitija National park is being called Venice of  Lithuania. You will be able to experience it today! The path goes along beautiful lakes and forests as well as settlements, which has kept traditional elements worth discovering. Along the route you will pass mounds, Ladakalnis (great view), Ginuciai water mill.

Arrival to Ginuciai for overnight at a homestead. 

 

Day 4 GINUCIAI – STRIPEIKIAI – GINUCIAI (15 km, hiking)

 

Breakfast at the homestead. Walking tour in Ginuciai surroundings. You will see Papliausas stream, Pakasas watermill and Siliniske crest. The main object of the route  - Stripeikiai Ancient Beekeeping museum.

Return to Ginuciai for overnight.

 

Day 5 KAYAKING UTENAS lake- BUKA river – GINUCIAI (16 km kayaking)

 

Day for water activities! Kayaking! UTENAS lake- BUKA river – GINUCIAI (16 km kayaking)

Breakfast at the homestead. Car pick up at the homestead in Ginuciai. Transfer to Utenas lake. here your water adventures starts! 16 km kayaking in lake and river. Enjoy the natural scenery & ethnographic villages.

Return to Ginuciai for overnight.

 

Day 6 Breakfast. Transfer back to Vilnius airport. Departure.
